How To Have God Ideas: Troy Black
How to Start Having God Ideas:
Allow God to Shift Your Motivation
Allow God to shift your motivation by accepting His ways.
So what are God's motivations?
When we read the Bible, we see that He created us to know and reflect His glory.
We also see that He saved us because He loves us.
God is motivated by making His glory known. People can get frustrated over this concept because it almost seems like God has a big ego He's trying to inflate. Yet, when we understand God is the very best that can possibly exist, we'll want to see His glory known and reflected everywhere. God's desire to be known is a desire for people to experience the best.
God is motivated by His love for mankind. This is how our thoughts differ from God's: When we deserved punishment, God offered us grace. I've never met anyone on this earth that is like that in their natural state. But as we are made into new creations in Christ, God is able to transform the intentions of our hearts to match His. When this happens, our hearts are filled with His love for one another.
God's motivations are directly tied to His character:
He is worthy of all praise, and He is perfectly loving. As we take on the motivations of God, allowing Him to transform our old nature into the nature of Christ, our actions will reflect His glory and reveal His love to others.
When this motivation shift happens, an environment is created where God will be more specific about His plans for your life. Why? Because when you have the same intentions as God, you already plan on obeying Him before He even tells you what to do. God specifically led David to be king of Israel because David was a man after God's own heart-his intentions lined up with God's. Ask God to change your motivations. Ask Him to change your heart. When you begin to allow your loving Father to change the intentions of your heart, you'll start to better understand the way He thinks.
