A Faith That Brings Life
"He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!" (Mark 12:27).
Spiritually there is nothing sadder than having faith that is dead; faith that was once vibrant with energy and life. It was once filled with joy and gladness. Then, due to neglect, it waned unnoticed and eventually died, or it was smothered by circumstances and matters that received higher priority. A dead or dying faith is interspersed with lame excuses, procrastination and increasing bitterness. Fortunately God never changes. He is still the Author and Perfecter of your faith. That is why you have to realize that any decline in your spiritual life is your own fault and can never be blamed on God. This realization and confession is a good starting point for spiritual revival. If you have a sincere, burning desire to experience a pulsating, living faith, the responsibility to develop it rests squarely on your own shoulders. God longs for you to have a living faith with Him at the centre, which will allow you to live and not merely exist. He did not leave you, nor did He withdraw His Holy Spirit from you. He is always available to you. The main problem that arises is usually that God has to make way for other matters in your life, which you regard as more important than Him. He cannot give you His fullness if your "house" is overcrowded with cheap furniture that is taking His place. If you want your faith to be powerful and alive, God must be central to your life. Only then will His love drive out hatred; replace bitterness with friendliness; weakness with power, and doubt will flee before a constructive, living faith.
Heavenly Father, thank You that Your Holy Spirit allows my faith to live - and that I can live because of this! Amen
