He promised Abraham as many descendants as there were stars in the heavens and grains of sand by the shore and yet, He let Abraham and Sarai wait many years for their promised heir. Only when it became physically impossible for them to have children was Isaac born. Ironically, Isaac also married a woman who struggled to fall pregnant, and his son Jacob had to wait years for his dream wife, only to discover that she too could initially not have children. Our faith also sometimes flunders. Because God doesn't answer our prayers in the way we expect Him to.
