God Works Differently

God Works Differently

"My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." - Isaiah 55:8-9

God doesn't work the way we expect Him to. He promised Abraham as many descendants as there were stars in the heavens and grains of sand by the shore and yet, He let Abraham and Sarai wait many years for their promised heir. Only when it became physically impossible for them to have children was Isaac born. Ironically, Isaac also married a woman who struggled to fall pregnant, and his son Jacob had to wait years for his dream wife, only to discover that she too could initially not have children. Our faith also sometimes flunders. Because God doesn't answer our prayers in the way we expect Him to. Ultimately, though, God honors every one of His promises, though He works in His own way, which often
requires a waiting period. For this reason, God's children can continue hoping for a summer, even in the midst of a spiritual winter; they can be certain that it will eventually come, even though it might take longer than expected. Those who wait on the manifestation of God's promises are never disappointed.

Father, teach me again that You always know best and that the things I receive from You are always in my best interests. Amen.
